About

Building systems by understanding how they work

I'm Mohamed El-Houary, a student at 1337 / 42 Network focused on DevOps, systems engineering, networking, backend development, and cloud infrastructure.

My projects span low-level C/C++ systems, TCP/IP networking, and containerized infrastructure — each one built to understand the layer beneath the abstraction.

Journey

01

Low-Level Foundations

Built core projects in C and C++ covering memory management, algorithms, processes, threads, file descriptors, and Unix behavior.

Key projects: libftget_next_lineft_printfPhilosophersMinishell

02

Systems & Networking

Developed TCP/IP, socket programming, and protocol implementation skills through client-server architectures and network configuration exercises.

Key projects: ft_ircNetPracticeminitalk

03

DevOps & Infrastructure

Applied Docker, Nginx, MariaDB, TLS, and persistent storage to build containerized infrastructure with isolated networking and service orchestration.

Key projects: Inception

Education

1337 / 42 Network — Rabat

Software Engineering · 2023 – Present

1337 follows the 42 project-based learning model. Instead of traditional lectures, students solve increasingly difficult engineering problems, review each other's code, debug failures, and defend technical decisions in evaluations.

Curriculum Milestones

  • Libc reimplementation (libft, get_next_line, ft_printf)
  • Algorithms & data structures (push_swap)
  • Concurrency & synchronization (Philosophers)
  • Unix shell implementation (Minishell)
  • Network programming (ft_irc, NetPractice, minitalk)
  • Graphics & mathematics (fract-ol)
  • Containerized infrastructure (Inception)

How I Work

Build

I learn by creating real systems instead of only studying concepts.

Understand

I trace through each component to learn what it does and why it exists.

Debug

Failures are part of the process. I use them to map system behavior.

Improve

Once something works, I refine it to be cleaner, safer, and maintainable.

Current Goal

Join a real engineering environment

I'm currently looking for an internship where I can contribute to DevOps, infrastructure, backend, or systems engineering work while learning from production systems and experienced engineers.
